Lamoura
On the edge of the dense Forêt du Massacre, Lamoura is the
most typical of the villages around the resort of Les Rousses, where you
can still see traditional farming and crafts.
It is also an area of very high snowfall: for example, 25cm of snow fell
in 24 hours in April 1986, and on 26th March 2004 a temperature of 8°C
was recorded.
This is the starting point of the famous Transjurassienne, a langlaufing
competition which used to be known as "Lamoura-Mouthe", to the
delight of the competitors, who would boast "J'ai fait Lamoura-Mouthe".
